Paul “Babe” Falatko 96 of Freeland passed away Monday May 12 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Born in Eckley he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Fedorshak) Falatko.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Freeland.
Paul was an honorably discharged Army veteran serving in Japan 1948 to 1949.
Before retiring he was a supervisor for Tobyhanna Army Depo.
He loved baseball. Growing up he played with the Eckley Red’s in the early 1940’s, minor league where he signed a contract in 1949 with the San Angelo Colts, Texas later he umpired and played in the Northside Softball League.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was Brothers; Joseph and Ferd. Daughter; Julie Thompson also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 73 years the former Dolores Gorski. Sons; Paul and his wife Nadine, Jim and his wife Mary, and Robert. Sister; Anna Plaksa. Son-in-law; Art Thompson. 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday May 16, 10am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception parish 898 Centre St. Freeland.
Burial will follow in St. John’s cemetery, Freeland.
