Brian “Hap” Ayers 55 of Freeland passed away Sunday March 9 at his home.
Born in Hazleton he was the son of Robert Charles and Theresa (Shebelock) Ayers.
He was of Catholic faith.
Hap was a 1987 graduate of Freeland High School and a 2015 Hazleton Area Sports Hall of Fame inductee. He was one of the most versatile Freeland High School athletes ever, his love of sports began at a young age and continued through his life. He was one of the finest football tight ends to ever play in the region.
Before retiring he was employed for 33 years at Bemis as a platemaker.
He loved his family, being outdoors, traveling to Iceland, Ireland, Spain, and Rome.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years the former Cindy Allen. Brother; Robert and his wife Rosanna. 3 nieces, 2 nephews and Brother in law; Jeff. Father and mother-in-law; Gerald and Pauline Allen also survive.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish 898 Centre St. Freeland.
Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9 to 10 am.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
