George Blanyar 86 of Freeland passed away Friday December 27 at Mountain Top Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born in Freeland he was the son of the late John and Verna (Yacum) Blanyar.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Freeland.
He was an honorably discharged Army Paratrooper with the rank of SP4 serving from 1960 to 1963.
Before retiring he was employed for 20 years as a truck and forklift driver for the former Barrett Haentjens pumps, Hazleton and a dishwasher at Top of the 80’s.
George loved hunting, fishing, and playing horseshoes.
Preceding him death in addition to his parents was Brothers; Michael, Thomas, Joseph, and John. Sisters; Verna, Anna Mae, and Sophia and Helen Tomaziefski also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years the former Catherine Mikula. Son; George. Brother; Steve. Sister; Mary Supon. Granddaughter; Talaya Renee Blanyar and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 21, 2026 at 10am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church 898 Centre St. Freeland.
Friends may call at the church from 9:30 to 10am.
Members of the American Legion post 473 will accord military orders.
Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Freeland.
