Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Agnes F. Batcha

Agnes F. Batcha

Agnes F. Batcha passed away Friday, April 10th, in Newtown, Pennsylvania, after a brief illness. Born April 23, 1925, she was just shy of her 101st birthday. She was born at home in Freeland to the late Emanuel and Francesca (Seppi) Flessati, and lived on Vine Street for much of her life.

She worked at Citizens Bank first as a teller, and then as Bank Officer (the first female officer in her district), ran Batcha’s Market on South Street with her late husband Stephen D. Batcha, and then worked in the office at Citterio, where she loved her colleagues and the prosciutto.

She married Steve in 1960 after a short courtship. They raised three loving children, Becky, Stephen, and Maribeth.

Agnes was whip sharp until the end, loved making and keeping friends and listening to stories, gardening, and being useful, wherever and however she could.

She is survived by her three children and their families: daughter, Becky Batcha, her husband, Don Steinberg, and their sons, Will and Tom, Yardley, PA; son, Stephen Batcha, Lebanon, Ohio, and his daughter, Brianna; and daughter, Maribeth Batcha, her husband, Devin Emke, and their daughter, Sally Rae, Brooklyn, N.Y. Also surviving are many beloved nieces and nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish, 898 Center Street, Freeland. Friends may call at the church from 9-10 a.m.

Donations in lieu of flowers should be made to the Freeland YMCA, PO Box 6, Freeland, PA 18224.

McNulty Funeral Home, 494 East Butler Drive, Freeland, is in charge of all arrangements.
