Thelma H. Carr, 88, formerly of Middletown passed away peacefully October 14, 2022 at The Pavilion at St. Luke’s where she had been a resident for nearly two years.

Born May 12, 1934 in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Julia (Kochera) Andrasko. Thelma was the last surviving sibling of the Andrasko family.

Thelma was a member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann’s Church, Freeland. She was a 1951 graduate of Hazleton High School and worked as a school bus driver serving the Hazleton Area School District.

Thelma was an avid animal and bird lover and enjoyed travelling with her family to Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland, and Switzerland. She also liked to crochet.

Proceeding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Patrick J. Carr in 1986, and her brothers, Andrew, Stephen, Peter, Adam, Philip, and Thomas.

Thelma is survived by her children; son Jeffrey and Kim, Arizona; and daughters Patrice and her husband Ken Stoddard, Drums; and Janet Carr and Jeff Young, Freeland. Grandson, Clark Young; Step-Grandsons, Seth and Derrick Green; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday October 19th at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish, 898 Centre Street, Freeland. Visitation will be held for family and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Freeland.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at The Pavilion for the care and attention provided to Thelma during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The NEPA Pet Fund and Rescue, P.O. Box 3953, Scranton PA, 18505 (or at nepapetrescue.com) in memory of Thelma.

McNulty Funeral Home, 494 East Butler Dr., Freeland is assisting the family with arrangements.
