John M. Howey

June 19, 1953 - February 6, 2023

John M. Howey 69 of Freeland passed away early Monday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

Born in Hazleton he was the son of the late John Matthew and Virginia (Bittner) Howey.

He was a member and board member of Bethel Baptist Church, Freeland, Arbutus Masonic Lodge #611 where he was a present and past master, Freeland Fire Company, and a former member of the Fourth Ward and Scotch Hill Fire Companies.

John loved his granddaughter and enjoyed watching Penn State and Phillies.

Before retiring he was a residential supervisor for White Haven Center.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years the former Roseann Descipio. Son; Jay- Freeland. Daughter; Theresa Sopata and her husband Stan- Freeland. Granddaughter; Alexandra. Aunt; Edna Pavlinsky- Connecticut. Nieces and nephews on his wife’s side of his family.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8pm at McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial service at church will be announced at a later date.
