Helen Dzuranin

Helen (Fifick) Dzuranin, 89, of Hazle Township and formerly of Milnesville, passed away at The Laurels where she was a resident. Born in Eckley, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Kafan) Fifick.
Helen was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hazleton where she was active in many church functions, especially in pierogi making.
Helen graduated from St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia, in 1954. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hazleton, until she retired.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband John Dzuranin; brothers Joseph, Nicholas and Michael Fifick; and sisters Anna Stefanick and Mary Litchko.
Surviving are her daughters Anne Bendick and husband Sean, of Mystic, CT; Margaret Morales and husband Roberto, of South Riding, VA; and son John Dzuranin of Weatherly, PA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Jacob Bendick and Grace, Marie, and Elizabeth Morales; niece Barbara Berger, of Hazleton, PA, and several other nieces and nephews.
Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church 227 East Beech St. Hazleton on Monday, May 13, at 10am. Friends and relatives may call at the church on Monday from 9 to 10 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
