George M. Patrick Jr. 83 of Freeland who passed away Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Born in Drifton he was the son the late George Michael and Anna (Kapuschinsky) Patrick Sr.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine catholic Church, Freeland, a graduate of Hazle Twp. high school and with additional schooling from the Army Correspondents School he received education in electrical and upholstering, and was an honorably discharge Army veteran.
Before retiring he was the produce manager for Genetti’s Grocery store and the Jomax Thriftway, and was the co owner of former Freeland Food Market.
George was proud of the strong bond within his family he enjoyed fly fishing and tying his own flies, spending time with his grandchildren, ice cream, bowling, gardening, his blueberry bush, taking care of and feeding the birds, playing poker and pinnacle, golfing and watching his son Brian as a golf pro, overseeing his granddaughter Jessica with her future career goals, and his retirement at age 59.
He was Freeland’s Best Putter and an avid St Louis Cardinals and Buffalo Bills fan.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents is his Sister; Rita and Sister in Law; Eileen Patrick.
Surviving is his Wife of 61 years the former Theresa Sekerak. Son; George III and Patricia- Drums and Brian and his wife Michele- Conyngham. Daughter; Patricia and Bruce McClellan- Freeland. Brother; Robert- White Haven. Sisters; Arlene and Wayne Marchetti- Freeland, Helen Patrick- Drifton, and Janet Johnson and her husband Ron- North Carolina. Grandchildren; Jessica McClellan and James Hahn. Great Grandchildren; Tegan and Piper Hahn and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 9:30am at McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday 8:30 to 9:30am.
Private burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
