Elizabeth A. Shovlin 96 of Freeland a guest at Fritzingertown Senior Living, Drums where she passed away Wednesday afternoon.

Born September 4, 1924 in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Matthews) O’Brien.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann’s Church, Freeland and the American Legion Post 473.

Elizabeth was a 1941 graduate of Notre Dame Academy and an honorably discharged Seaman 1st class Flight Orderly Naval Air Transport Service during World War 2.

Before retiring she was a teacher’s aid for Daniel Coxe Memorial School, White Haven Center, and Freeland area Schools.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her Husband; Patrick J. 1992. Son; John L. and Brother; Francis O’Brien.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her Sons; Thomas and his wife Diana-New Jersey and Patrick- Wilkes Barre. Daughter; Mary Steiner and her husband Joe- Bloomsburg. Grandchildren; CDR. Katherine Shovlin USN and her wife Kate- Arlington VA. And Anne Matov and her husband Alex- Glyndon MD. Great Grandchildren; Aidan and Raya Matov. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be celebrated on Wednesday June 30 at 1:15pm in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Freeland. Rev. Michael Kloton will officiate.

Member’s of the American Legion will accord services.

McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland is in charge of arrangements.
