Dorothy Herkalo

January 24, 1923 - January 8, 2021

Dorothy Herkalo 96 of Freeland died on Friday at Fritzingertown Senior Living where she received excellent care in the Evergreen Unit.

Born in Freeland she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Kacmar) Herkalo.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann’s Church, Freeland.

Dorothy graduated from Freeland High School and McCann School of Business.

After retiring from the Department of Transportation (FAA) in Washington D.C.  she returned to Freeland where she was very active in her church, community, and Freeland Senior Citizen’s.

She especially enjoyed visiting the casinos and many bus trips.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was Brothers; John, Paul, and Tom. Sisters; Irene and Anna. She also lost her loving fur babies Casey and Boscoe.

Dorothy is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday 10 am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann’s Church 898 Centre St. Freeland. Rev. Michael Kloton and Rev. J. Duane Gavitt will celebrate services.

Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 9 to 10am.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
