Adam L. “Lefty” Hauze III, 82,  passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hazleton following a brief illness.

 

Born on June 15, 1941, he was the son of the late Adam L. Hauze, Jr. and Frances Hauze, and resided in Sandy Run his entire life.

 

Lefty was a graduate of Foster Township High School and enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17 enlisting on June 20, 1958. He served his country in Oberammergau, Germany. Upon his return to the United States, he met and married his wife, the former Vivian Paytas, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 8, 2023.

 

Prior to retiring, Lefty was a Utility Plant Operator at the White Haven Center. He was previously active in the Freeland Chicken Pluckers.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons; Adam L. Hauze IV and companion Regina Smith, Keith and wife Tracy, and Scott. Also surviving are grandchildren Adam L. Hauze V and wife Emily, Evan Hauze, Ava Hauze, Connor Hauze, a great-granddaughter due in January; brother, William Hauze and his wife Catherine, Freeland; sisters Darlene Antolick and her husband, David, Drums; Sarah Branz, Mountaintop; sister-in-law Lillian Paytas Gallagher and her husband, John, Lattimer, nieces, nephews, close friends Billy Obeid, Gene Resuta, and John “Basil” Sessock.

 

Lefty’s greatest joy and passtime was watching his children, grandchildren, and nephews play sports. Friends and family were always welcome in “Lefty’s Garage.”

 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Freeland American Legion Post 473 for their kindness during his illness.

 

Friends and family may call at McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Freeland American Legion Post 473 will conduct a service at 4:00.

 

Memorial donations can be made to the Freeland Little League, PO Box 74, Freeland PA or the Freeland YMCA, PO Box 6, Freeland PA 18224.
