William Paul Fox Sr. 86 of Freeland a guest at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community who passed away Friday at Fritingertown.
Born in Freeland he was the son of the late William and Elnora (Houseknecht) Fox.
He was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Freeland.
William was a proud 1948 graduate of MMI where he arranged class reunions and was the last quarterback for the school football team. After graduation he started to work at Citizens / First Valley bank where he was employed for 45 years prior to retirement as Branch Manager and Vice President.
He enjoyed fishing and was one of the originators of the Freeland Patriot Midget Football Program (currently the Freeland Whippets) where he served as assistant coach for many years. He was also active in forming and coaching Freeland Biddy Basketball, treasurer of the Freeland Little League for more than 25 years and the Freeland Quarterback Club for 21 years which is now know as the Freeland Boosters Club, St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and YMCA where he is on the board of directors and is a current trustee and life member.
William was a member of the zoning and hearing board, recreational board, civil service board all of Freeland. Past President of the Freeland Rotary Club for the past 40 years, fraternal order of police, and a 50 year member of the Arbutus Lodge #611 of the Free and Accepted Masons.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife the former Anna Mae Mattis who passed away February 1, 2017. Brother; Julius Fox and Sister; Ruth Baskin.
Surviving is his Sons; William and his wife Jamie- Drums, Chris and his wife Lisa- Freeland and Jeffrey and his wife Rose- Freeland. Daughter- Judy and her fiancée Jim Avillion -Freeland. Grandchildren; Jesse, Jonathan, Brianna, Samantha and her husband Rob Franklin, Lucas and his wife Jessica Fox, Deanna, Sarah, Todd, Katie, Marissa, Krysta, and Jada. Great Grandchildren; Paul, Maelee, and Maci also survive.
Funeral will be held Tuesday 9:30am from the McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland with Services 10am in St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran church, Washington St. Freeland.
Burial will follow in Ss. Peter’s and Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Freeland.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 9pm and Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30am.
