Victor J. Piazzi 88 of Freeland, passed away Monday at his home.
Born in Freeland he was the son of the late Victor A. and Elizabeth
(Corra) Piazzi.
He was a member of the former St. Anthony’s RC church and was an
active member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish where he
was an usher and attended daily mass until his recent illness
Before retiring he was the owner of Bruno Supply Co., Hazleton Travel
Agency and the Anthracite Gas Co.
He was an honorable discharged Air Force Veteran who served stateside
and in England.
Victor was a member of the American Legion Post 473, Knights of
Columbus, past Hazleton Area School Board Member, and a life member of the Elks.
He was an avid golfer who especially enjoyed the 19th hole.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his Sister; Ann
and her husband Leonard Swankoski.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years the former Alice Bartko. Daughters;
AliceAnn Middleton and husband Robert, Cindy Nole and husband Dominick
Teri Lutz and husband Brian, and Marina Blevins and husband John.
Brother; George Piazzi and his life partner Richard Palko. Sisters;
Kay Tsurumi and husband Hiroki, Dot Welsko and husband Mark, and Dawn Piazzi.
Grandchildren; Lauren and Erin Timko, McKenna Middleton, Dylan and Ian
Blevins and great granddaughter; Madison “Mopsy” Middleton. In addition, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Friday 9am from the McNulty Funeral Home 494 East
Butler Dr. Freeland with Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 in Our Lady of
the Immaculate Conception Parish, Freeland.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8pm.
Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to the
