Thomas R. “Mutchel” Lloyd 84 of Sandy Valley a guest at the Pavillion at St. Luke’s, Hazleton passed away Wednesday September 18 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest while surrounded by his family.
Born on February 5, 1940 in Freeland he was the son of the late Morris and Helen (Motzkus) Lloyd, and the stepson of the late Clyde Detweiler Sr.
He was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran church, Freeland and an honorably discharged Air Force Veteran serving from 1957 to 1961.
Tom was creative and always made things work, enjoyed canning pickles jelly and BBQ sauce, working on cars and houses including putting an addition on his own home, woodworking building benches, toy chests and clocks, operating the gift shop at Mt. Laurel Resort – White Haven.
He was employed by the former Discon Steel as a laborer, Charles Maso and Sons as a carpenter, Manager of local stores for the State Liquor Control Board, retiring from Boscov’s Hazleton as a cashier in the small appliance section.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents and stepfather was his Wife the former Patricia Fogarty 2013. Son-Thomas 2023.  Brothers; Robert Lloyd and William “Bill” Lloyd. Sisters; Margaret Conklin and Dorothy Yagalla.
Surviving are his Son; Scott- Drums. Daughter; Kathleen Kluck (Mark)- Strongsville Ohio. Brothers- Fred Lloyd- Sandy Valley and Clyde Detweiler Jr. -Sandy Valley. Sister; Carol Viechec-Sandy Valley.  Stepbrother; Kirk Detweiler-Sandy Valley. Stepsister; Bonnie Barry-North Carolina. Grandchildren; Joelle, Amanda, and Morgan Kluck, Elizabeth Lloyd, Sarah Poole and Tyler Lloyd. Great Grandchilden; Emmalee, Evalyn, Ryan “RJ”, Belle and Josias. Many Nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at the McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland on Saturday September 28 from 10 to 12 noon. Services will be celebrated at 12 noon.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
