Ruth L. “Ruthie” Schenk, 81, of Freeland, passed away Saturday, July 6, at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Born in Freeland, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Florence (Houseknecht) Troell.
She was a member of St. John’s Reformed UCC, Freeland and was a graduate of Freeland High School.
Ruthie loved her family, music, playing the piano, baking, sewing, and picking huckleberries for Sam’s favorite pie.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were infant sons David and his brother; Sister Thelma Cartwright also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Stanley F.; Children Donna, Stanley and his wife Alicia, Sandra Lapchak and her husband Brian, and son Jeffrey. Grandchildren; Jason and Justin Zoshak, Megan and Olivia Lapchak, Samuel Schenk and Step Grandchildren; Allison Gorta and Justin Yakubowski. Also surviving is Ruth’s joy, Great Granddaughter Harper Zoshak and several nieces and nephew.
Funeral will be held Friday 9:30am from the McNulty Funeral Home, 494 East Butler Dr,. Freeland, with services celebrated at 10am in St. John’s Reformed UCC, 829 Washington St. Freeland. Rev. Albert Titus will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8pm and on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30am.
Burial will follow in Freeland Cemetery.
