Robert (Bert) Marley passed away in Freeland on Monday January 4, 2015.

Born in Oakdale he was the son of the late Peter Emmett and Mary Catherine (Smith) Marley.

He was a 1957 graduate of West Hazleton High School and was drafted into the Army of the United States where he served in France.

Upon discharge from the Army he was employed as a desk clerk at Split Rock Lodge.

Before retiring he worked for the Pa. Liquor Control Board as a clerk in the State Store System, Philadelphia. He then transferred to Luzerne County where he held Various Positions throughout the county. He retired in 1995 after 30 years of service as the manager of the Freeland Wine and Spirts Shoppe where he was the manager for 24 years.

Bert was a regular member of the Freeland American Legion Post 473, AMVETS of White Haven Post 253, Highland AA, Jeddo Stars, Life Member of VFW Post 5010, White Haven and Butler Twp. Firemen’s Association.

He was a dart enthusiast in both English and American Darts he was also an officer in the Northside Dart League where he shot in many tournaments.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents is his first wife Gail and Brother Gerald.

Surviving is his wife Elsie. Son; Robbie and Angeline- Hazleton. Daughters Mary Marley and Joe Valenia, Nadine Clymer and her husband Ray- both of Freeland. Sister; Kathleen and Joseph Shikorsky- Freeland. Stepchildren; Neil and Lisa Carrelli. Grandchildren Amanda and Cherice Valenia, Brandon, Kathleen, and Jayden Clymer, Landon Stone, Bianca Brioc Nina and Kimberly Carrelli, and Heather Morro. Great Grandchildren; Maxwell Malloy, Jonathan and Jacob Morro. Nephews Joe Shikorsky and Gerald Marley and his lifelong friend Francis Gortva also survive.

Friends may call Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland.

Memorial services will be celebrated 10:30 at the funeral home. Pastor Thomas Cvammen will officiate.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
