Mildred “Millie” Kost, 89, was welcomed into the loving arms of Our Lord on Monday morning at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, Drums, where she had been a guest since 2015.
Born in Buck Mountain on Sept. 30, 1929, she was the daughter of George and Anna (Mikovich) Osif. She was a lifelong resident of Freeland and a devout member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church. She worked in the garment industry prior to retirement, and afterward dedicated most of her time to the church, volunteering with the Freeland Senior Center and Meals on Wheels, her avid bingo playing hobby, watching her favorite sports team, the Philadelphia Phillies, and spending time with her cherished family.
A kind, energetic, and strong-willed woman, she always had a smile on her face and spread love to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael, who passed away in 1987; as well as her parents; brothers, George and Alex Osif; sisters Anna Pokorny, Helen Pokorny, Theresa Armour, and Margaret Seratch; and an infant daughter.
She is survived by her son, Michael Kost, and his wife, Theresa, King of Prussia; and a daughter, Janice Kollar, Freeland. Also surviving are grandchildren Rebecca Toth and husband Josh, Bristol; Stephen Kost and wife Nicole, Bridgeport; Ian Kollar and his fiancée Maria McFaulds, Wayne; and Aaron Kollar, Slippery Rock; as well as great-grandchildren Kayla Kost, Maximus Toth, and Mason Kost; and many nieces and nephews.
The Very Rev. Protopresbyter Lawrence Barriger will celebrate the Office of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church. Interment will follow in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Freeland.
Friends may visit Tuesday, January 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. at McNulty Funeral Home, 494 E. Butler Drive, Freeland. A Parastas (Vigil) service will be conducted by Fr. Barriger on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 451 Fern St., Freeland, PA 18224.
