John P. Gretchen

October 25, 1952 - August 8, 2016

John P. Gretchen 63 of Freeland passed away Monday at Garden Spring Center Willow Grove Pa. after battling a long term illness at a medical facility in Williow Grove Pa.
Born October 25 1952 in Hazleton he was the son of John E. Gretchen, Freeland and the late Elayne (Gallagher) Gretchen.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann’s Church, Freeland.
Before retiring worked for the Freeland Municipal Authority for over 30 years.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His humor, kindness, and down to earth personality would leave him with a new friend wherever he would go.
In his earlier years John was a member of High Mountain Dirt Bike Riders. He won many trophies because of his skill as a motocross racer. His love of history lead him to volunteering in many activities at Eckley Miners Village.
Preceding him in death in addition to his mother is his Daughter; Kerri A. Gretchen.
Surviving is his Loving Wife the former; Claire M. (Fasulka) Gretchen, Son; Joshua J. Gretchen, granddaughter; Kierra M. Gretchen, Brother; Tom Gretchen and his wife Susan, Sister; Patrice Wirth, Father in law; John and his mother in law; Gloria C. (Zylla) Fasulka, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
With both a comical and compassionate spirit, John will forever be remembered in his family and friends hearts.
Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
