John Denion, 84, of Freeland, passed away Friday, August 19 in his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Laurytown, PA, he was the son of the late Rita (McGill) and John Denion.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Freeland, a lifetime member of the Sons of Erin, a social member of the Freeland V.F.W., and an avid Notre Dame and Yankees fan.

He retired from Feussner’s Ford after 60 years of service. He was also a part-time bartender for Jake’s Café and Lobitz Catering.

Proceeding in his death in addition to his parents is his brother, Joseph.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, the former Roseanne E. DeLucca. Children: Mary Beth Mehalick and husband Carl, Freeland; Jack Denion, Freeland; Bryan Denion and wife Tracey, Pottsville; Robert Denion and fiancée Lori Macko, Freeland; Sharon Roberts and husband Dale, Freeland; Kristen Longo and husband Matt, Macungie. Grandchildren: Megan and Lily Mehalick, Connor and Rylee Denion, Aiden and Isla Denion, Jason Roberts, and Noah Longo. Siblings: brother Edward Denion and wife Maureen, Charleston, and sister Susan Lyle and husband Larry, Baltimore. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends and family can call from 6-9pm, Sunday, August 28 at McNulty Funeral Home at 494 East Butler Drive, Freeland.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 29 at 10am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish at 898 Centre Street, Freeland. Friends may call the church Monday from 9-10am.

Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Freeland.

In lieu of flowers, friends can send a memorial donation in John’s name to the Capital Campaign Fund at Immaculate Conception Church, Freeland, PA.

McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Drive, Freeland is in charge of arrangements.
