James P. Quinn (Smokey), age 97 of  Freeland, Pennsylvania, passed away in the arms of the Lord on Friday, October 21,2022.

Smokey was born on August 28, 1925 to the late Julia Deitch and Edward Quinn.

Beloved husband to the late Anna Fellin Quinn. Devoted father to James M. Quinn (late  Carole), Robert Quinn ( Nancy) and the late Gloria Gabriel. Predeceased by his siblings ,  Helen, Mary, Grace , Anna , Vincent And Joe.

Adored pap pap of Robert Quinn Jr ( Jennifer), Kevin Quinn (Beth), Edward Wanyo ( Shannon) , John Wanyo (Megan) , James Patrick Gabriel, Kristin Quinn (Jack), Kelli Bruno (James) . Loving great-grandfather to Riley and Adalyn Wanyo James Jr and Avery Quinn Bruno , Dalton Quinn , Harper, Beckett and Wyatt Wanyo . Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In 1943 Smokey entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate in Corpus Christi, Texas and was honorably discharged February 9, 1946.

He retired from PP&L and was awarded a lifetime membership to the Freeland Fire Department.

An avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan and a New York Yankees fan. Smokey spent most of his time playing the slots. He loved taking trips to Mount Airy and Atlantic City casinos with his grandson Bobby and his wife Jennifer and son Bob. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids and sitting on his front porch. His greatest love was spending time with his cherished wife of 68 years, until her passing in 2013. He will now, be back in her arms once again!

A visitation is planned for Saturday 10/29/2022 from 9:30am-10:30 am at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Immediately following the viewing there will be a mass of Christian burial at 10:30, also at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (formerly Saint Ann’s), 898 Centre Street , Freeland PA 18224.

Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Freeland.

In Lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in James’ honor, to the Freeland Fire Department at Freeland Fire Department Fund DriveP.O.  Box 28Freeland PA  18224
