George W. Evancho Sr. 92 of Freeland passed away Thursday March 24 at his home.

Born in Freeland he was the son of the late George and Rachel (Minnich) Evancho.

He was a member of the former St. John’s Nepoumence Church and the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Freeland and an honorably discharged Army Veteran serving during the Korean War with the rank of Corporal decorated with the Korean Service medal with 4 bronze stars .

Before retiring he was a machinist for Discon Steel / White Cap, Hazleton.

George loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the yard of his home.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife Theresa; January 3, 2016 and Sister; Thelma Kushner.

Surviving are Son; George W. Evancho Jr. and his wife Rose- Freeland. Daughter; Chris Wysocki- Freeland. Grandchildren; Tiffany Hauze and her husband William Hauze, George Evancho III and his wife Ashley, Kyle Evancho, and David Wysocki. Great Grandchildren; Elsia and Mila Hauze, Ayden and Ava Evancho. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday April 1, 10am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish 898 Centre St. Freeland.

Friends may call at the church April 1 from 9:30 to 10am.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland is in charge of arrangements.
