George R. Moskovich 94 of Freeland passed away Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Born in Jeddo he was the son of the late Ignatz and Julia (Sabol) Moskovich.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann’s Church, Freeland.
George was an honorably discharged Army Veteran. While stationed in the Philippines he played baseball after returning home he continued his love of the game with the Jeddo Stars “No One Can Beat Them” team of 1947, finishing his career playing professional baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics and the New York Yankees.
He enjoyed bowling in many tournaments scoring five 300 games, pinochle, working in his yard, wood search puzzles, latch hook, and polkas.
Before retiring he was a Supervisor for Defense Depot, Memphis TN.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife of 61 years the love of his life for the former Peggy House 2017 whom he meet during an exhibition game in Memphis TN. Brothers; Peter and Emil. Sisters; Anna, Helen, Mary, and Agnes.
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are Sons; Robert- Freeland and Richard-Hazleton. Grandchildren; Benjamin and Kathleen. Great grandchildren; Kyra, Ava Jane, and Jacen. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday 10am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann’s Church, 898 Centre St. Freeland.
Friends may call at the church from 9:30 to 10am.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland is in charge of arrangements.
