David F. McCloskey Jr.,79, of Freeland passed away Sunday May 30, 2021 at home. He was born in Freeland on April 12, 1942 to the late David and Mary McCloskey Sr. He attended Foster Township High School and a union Sheet Metal apprentice program.
David prior to retirement worked for Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local 19 Philadelphia. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Hazleton.
David was an avid reader. He loved music of all genres and loved sharing music with others. He found enjoyment in life and had many interests including woodworking, origami, and metal detecting to name only a few. He was very involved in the raising of his children. Dave loved to read to his children and grandchildren. He was a beloved grandfather. He taught many children to ride their bikes, he made the best school projects and he could always be counted on to offer sound advice and a listening ear.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter Donna, Sister, MaryEllen, and brothers, Bernard, Michael, and Charles
David is survived by his former wife Patricia (Biggan) McCloskey and mother of his children, son, Patrick and his wife Antje, Fort Collins, CO, daughters Denise Haines, and her husband Chuckie, Orlando, FL, Kimberly, Philadelphia, and Bonnie Manherz and her husband Bob, Freeland, 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be held June 8, 2021 at 10:00 am from Holy Rosary Church 240 S. Poplar St., Hazleton.
Interment will be in St. Gabriel’s cemetery, Hazleton.
