Cirila Barnido Thomas, 75 of Drifton who passed away Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Allentown.
Born in Dipolog, Philippines she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Ursula (Barnido) Villanos.
She was a very religious women with a deep faith in God who was a member of the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Freeland.
Cirila was the au pair for both the Australian and French Ambassadors to Japan as well as the au pair for the family of the Councilor General of Sweden in California. She also celebrated 27 years at Mountain City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She was a loving, caring, patient, generous, wonderful mother and wife. Cirila was very proud to be a United States Citizen and also of of her Filipino heritage, enjoyed to cook, and loved traveling the world especially to the Philippines and Japan where her family and friends reside.
Surviving is her Husband of 36 years William E. Thomas to whom she married on April 25, 1981. Daughter, Verity A. Thomas of Orlando, Florida. Brother; Dionisio Villanos – Philippines. Sisters; Timotea Villanos Alberio, Concepcion Villanos, and Lourdes Villanos Ngalot, all residing in the Philippines and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral will be held Friday 9am from the McNulty Funeral Home 494 East Butler Dr. Freeland with Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann’s Church 898 Centre St. Freeland.
Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Freeland.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8pm and on Friday from 8 to 9am.
